Introduction

The school in Tamil Nadu needed a library management system to maintain records of the books, organise them, and lend them to the students. The system needed to have features like book cataloging, library organization, notifications, and modules for the late fee and printing of No Objection Certificates (NOCs).

Scope of Work

The scope of the project was to develop a library management system for the school with cloud readiness and real-time notifications. The system would include standard book cataloging, organizing and lending modules. The additional modules developed were book return reminder, late fee info through SMS Notifications, and modules for late fees and printing No Objection Certificates.

Analysis and Design

The first step in this project was the analysis and design of the system. This included the flowcharting of the process, the interaction between the modules, and the design of the user interface. After that, the database was designed and the system was built.

Implementation

The system was built as a cloud ready solution. It was developed in the Java programming language and used a MySQL database. The user interface was built using HTML and CSS. The system was then tested for functionality and reliability.

Features

Book Cataloging

The system had the ability to store information about books and authors in the database. It also had features for searching and sorting the books.

Library Organization

The system had features for organizing the library by categories, subjects, and authors. It also had the ability to add new books and delete existing ones.

Notifications

The system had the ability to send out notifications to students and parents about book returns, late fees, and other important information.

Late Fee Info

The system had the ability to calculate late fees and send out notifications to students and parents about them.

Printing No Objection Certificates

The system had the ability to generate and print No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for books that were being lent out.

Conclusion

The library management system for the school in Tamil Nadu was a success. The system was built with cloud readiness and had features for book cataloging, library organization, notifications, late fee info, and printing No Objection Certificates. The project was completed on time and the system is now in use in the school.
